Hi there

Don't really know where I should post this. Anyway

My 8 m² vsonic 2008 is a very good kite

but the front lines tend to twist as I can only backloop

on one side yet

Is the 2009 upgrade kit worth it?

does it really avoid front lines twist?

I'm quite excited by the chicken loop

(the 2008 version is not the best I've ever seen)

Tongue out

I think it's worth upgrading to the latest QR as it's a really good system

But unfortunately, the ball bearing on the front lines can only do so much as far as keeping your lines untwisted, specially when under load.

Actually, I don't know of any kite bar system that keeps lines untwisted at any time. The closest device would be a rotating spreader bar, like the Peter Lynn ones, but even then, sometimes you have to manually rotate the thing.

Saying so, I wouldn't worry too much about that.  In no time you'll learn to do backloops the other way, or front loops the same way, or just downlooping your kite during the turns, one way or the other so as to not accumulate too many twists in your lines.

And the best thing is that you'll get lots of fun doing that!

merci  Smile

I'm not confortable yet backlooping on the other side

It's always a miracle when I land one

Front looping on the same side...

I'm working on that too with no real result yet

I had never heard about downlooping while turning

could you describe a little futher?

Well, it's just a big name for a small thing. During a turn usually you pull on your back hand to redirect the kite the other way. Instead, keep on pulling on the front hand throughout the turn. Instead of turning towards the sky, the kite will turn towards the water, don't worry, don't stop pulling and it'll quickly complete the half turn. You'll exist the turn with a twist in your bar, as if you had done a loop yourself.

You can demistify the thing with a trainer kite to visualize it first if you're unsure, but it REALLY is no big deal. It'll open perspectives for many things in the future while providing you a classy way of untwisting your lines.
