I have two bars that came with my kites stock in 2007 and this year I upgraded both bars to the 2009 chicken loop and saftey system. I noticed after installing it on both bars that all of my kites tended to stall out at full power and after investigating it a little I realized that when I would sheet in to full power the kite would stall out becase the new 09 main line added about 8 or 9 inches to the front lines. All I had to do was add some 9 inch pigtails to the back lines and problem solved. Didnt know where to post this but thought it might be helpful if anyone else did the upgrade and is having problems.                     -Josef

Hi -

I was not aware that the 2007 bar could be upgraded to 2009 spec. I was lead to believe it was due to the size of the center hole in the bar being larger in 08 & 09, but maybe it was the 2006 that could not be upgraded.

On a related note -

Are you certain you upgraded your bar using the same knots as shown here in the forum?

Also, perhaps it's possible that your main CL line was shipped to you too long?

I'm only guessing mind you. Perhaps Mat can shed some light on your findings?

I got both upgrade kits from A local shop and followed the directions here on ther forum and it went really smooth but both bars then had problems stalling out the kites because the front lines were then too long. But after i added the pigtails on the rear lines the problem was solved. But i guess if you didnt mind shortening that centerline you could just re-tie the knot to make the front lines shorter to solve the problem too they would both work. And both of my bars are the 2007 and I upgraded them no problem but well have to wait and see if it wears them prematurely.

Hi,

Good to see that the upgrade went OK, It sounds stupid, put it is always difficult to make every thing 100% compatible with the bars, all the sizes of Trix and Sonic and Vsonic from 06, should be more or less good.

For sure you can shorten the depower line, but what is better of course is to adjust the kite, instead of adding pig tails you can also shorten the A-KPO bridle, take a look at the video I posted:
