leading chiken loop line getting worn out ?
5 March, 20095 March, 2009 3 comments Uncategorized Uncategorized

I just upgraded three of my kites to the 09 setup and it is a step up in quality and ease of use. One detail though: the main line (loop) going through the Chcken Loop assemblee (red plastic triangle) gets worn out pretyy quick since it is rope against metal in there.

Any ideas on how to prevent the wear of the rope ?

Vince.

Hmmm....something does not sound right, as I would imagine that the main line (when passing through the clear red CL assembly) would only be subject to friction when initially adjusting the 'how far from the control bar' the trim adjustment will be. I plan to upgrade one of my 2008 bars this week if possible, if not I should be able to inspect a 2009 GK bar in store to try see what you mean.

Hi, You should not worry about this, I have been very careful about this mater, this is a quality control point, I have very strongly insisted to the factory that this part of the stainless QR should be rounded, and to make sure that even if it is not totally rounded it will not cause any problem to the depower rope, I got set up a small machine to pull back and forward under big pressure the 5mm spectra rope, this is something you would not do in normal use, the result was that even if the rope finally got small signs of ware, It was only very superficial and nothing close to break the depower line.
These days I have been connecting a 12 Trix to a Hobie Cat 16 in 25 knots of wind using the 09 QR and bar, It is really pulling hard, and nothing is moving, we will post some pics next time we go out, it is great fun.

Hi - I just received my 09 CL/De-power strap upgrade kit today - it did not come with any printed instructions or paperwork. What should I refer to so that I make sure I perform the upgrade properly? Is there a 3rd party website or video that I can reference? Thanks.
